National Grid Crews To Assist After Hurricane Wilma
National Grid today sent 71 employees to Florida at the request of Florida Power & Light to assist in power restoration efforts for the 3.2 million customers affected by Hurricane Wilma.
The company’s 23 line crews from -- nine from New York and 14 from New England -- left their respective regions this morning and traveled by chartered jet to West Palm Beach, Florida. Florida Power & Light will provide ground transportation and will dispatch crews as needed to begin power restoration in the West Palm Beach area. Company crews could remain in Florida for up to four weeks.
National Grid, through the transmission and distribution of electricity and natural gas, serves close to 4 million customers across 29,000 square miles of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island.
