PECO Crews Travel to West Virginia and Florida to Help Restore Power to Millions

A total of 50 employees will travel in two groups, 20 to West Virginia and 30 to Florida, to repair damage and restore electric service following severe storms.

Crews will depart Pennsylvania and head south to assist more than two million Florida Power & Light customers who remain without electricity following the aftermath of Hurricane Wilma. Crews also are already underway to assist more than 100,000 Allegheny Power customers in West Virginia currently without power following an early winter storm that dumped more than 10 inches of snow in the region.

PECO crews to Florida will include 22 linemen and supporting safety, logistics, fleet and field personnel. PECO crews to West Virginia include 12 linemen and supporting safety, logistics, fleet and field personnel.

Crews, departing after loading their trucks with necessary supplies and a safety briefing, will begin the three-day trip to the Miami area of Southern Florida. The caravan will stop on Saturday evening in Fayetteville, North Carolina and Sunday evening in Jacksonville, Florida. Arriving in Miami on Monday afternoon, employees are expected to remain in Florida for two weeks. Other PECO crews, who departed on Friday for West Virginia, are expected to join crews in Florida later in the week if their services are still needed.

Based in Philadelphia, PECO is an electric and natural gas utility subsidiary of Exelon Corporation.
