TXU Employees on Their Way to Nacogdoches and Lufkin to Help With Relief Efforts
Employees from TXU Power and TXU Wholesale will join the TXU Energy employee effort to assist with the relief work for Hurricane Rita victims in Nacogdoches and Lufkin. All 100 employees boarded buses to work with staff from the American Red Cross and other local and state agencies and help with the storage and distribution of ice, food and other urgent necessities.
"Our employees are eager to work with relief agencies to get everyone in Nacogdoches and Lufkin back on their feet as soon as possible," said TXU Energy Chairman and CEO Jim Burke. "We will be there to give other volunteers a chance to take a well-deserved break from all the hard work they've been doing since Saturday."
This initiative is part of TXU's ongoing response plan to help victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita rebuild and resume their normal lives.
