UCA International Users Group is hosting a booth with 14 members participating in a live Interoperability Demonstration of IEC 61850. Exhibiting companies are: ABB, Areva, EnerNex Corporation, GE Multilin, KEMA, OMICRON, Open Secure Energy Control Systems, RuggedCom, SEL, Siemens, SISCO, Utility Consulting International, UTInnovation, and ZIV Aplicaciones y Tecnologia. This is an excellent opportunity to learn first hand about the existing solutions available to the industry. Also, the available communication functionalities among these devices will be demonstrated. A series of different tests will be staged to demonstrate the capabilities of this revolutionary communications architecture. Visitors will be able to get information on the current state of the IEC 61850 standard., OpenAMI and UtilityAMI for issues related to advanced metering and demand response and IEC 61970 (the Common Information Model, CIM).

A technical panel session titled Benefits of IEC 61850 for Substation Automation will be held on Tuesday, May 23, between 9:00 am and 11:00 am. Chaired by Gordon Wong, Siemens, the panelists include: R. Mackiewicz, Sisco Inc.; J. White, Grant County Public Utility District; P skare, G Wong, and C Hoga, Siemens; M. Ingram, D. Lowe, P.C.McLure, B Smith, TVA, and F. Cleveland, Utility Consulting International; and J. Hughes, EPRI.
