Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (Booth 5255) will expand production, research and development operations at its Pullman, Washington headquarters.

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (Booth 5255) will expand production, research and development operations at its Pullman, Washington headquarters.

The company plans to construct two new buildings, adding over 200,000 additional square feet of space. One building will be devoted to production and the other to research and development. The new facilities will enable SEL to hire more than 850 additional employee owners in Pullman over the next several years.

“The best way for us to predict the future is to invent it and build it,” said SEL President Edmund O. Schweitzer, III. “I'm delighted that we're doing both right here in Pullman.”

Construction on both buildings will start in June of 2016 with move-in scheduled for June 2017.

“This exciting news comes on the heels of recent SEL expansions in Charlotte, Boise, Brazil, Mexico and Saudi Arabia,” said SEL CEO Luis D'Acosta. “Our growth enables us to serve our customers around the world with local support while also continuing to design and manufacture in the United States. It is an exciting time for our company!”

This is a significant expansion for the company’s Pullman campus. “The new buildings will grow our footprint here to almost 1 million square feet,” said SEL Director of Property Management Jana Schultheis. “That's about 23 acres under roof right here in Pullman.”
