ComEd's Operations Control Center Technical Tour
ComEd’s state-of-the-art Operations Control Center is the where ComEd's "Restore First, Then Repair" strategy begins. ComEd's emergency-response team's focus used to be more on repairing the problem than on restoring service. So ComEd shifted its response effort to doing everything possible to restore the customers' service first, and then repair the faulty equipment or cable.
The Control Center is where the plan and the dispatching happens, and visitors to the IEEE PES Conference can tour the facility on Wednesday, April 23.
The tour has been arranged by 2008 host utility ComEd. It will detail the physical layout of the facility, including the emergency command center and dispatch “pods” as well as an explanation of the IT systemsin use.
