3M Electrical Products cold shrink silicone rubber termination kit QT-III for 69 kV brings the reliability of cold shrink technology to the high-voltage market for the first time with its new 69kV termination. Cold shrink terminations are as compact but more flexible than traditional terminations, so they fit better in restricted spaces.

Manitoba Hydro has begun using QT-III termination kits for 69 kV in padmounted substation and outdoor pole-mounted applications. Installation of these terminations is simpler than other methods and there is no need for a torch or heavy porcelain products. Cold shrink technology was invented by 3M and until recently has been available only for medium- and low-voltage applications.
