CenterPoint Energy Reports Transmission and Substation Capabilities Restored
As of 8 a.m., CenterPoint Energy reported that 96 percent of transmission circuits and 93 percent of substation capacity are back in service in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike.

Transmission line inspections are 99 percent complete. A final system survey will be conducted over the next two days. There were no steel transmission towers or steel or concrete poles down; only 50-60 wood transmission poles were destroyed, the majority of which are located on Galveston Island.

All but six substations are back in service; five of which are located on Galveston Island.

Service has been restored to all transmission voltage industrial customers, including the Houston Ship Channel and energy and petrochemical companies.

All transmission connections between CenterPoint Energy and the ERCOT network were restored on Monday.

After receiving governmental approval, CenterPoint Energy established an emergency transmission connection to Entergy, which restored two substations, in order to restore power to a water treatment facility normally served by Entergy. This facility is critical to the water supply for the City of Houston.

Power has been restored to Bush Intercontinental Airport, Hobby Airport and Ellington Air Field.

On Monday, transmission service to Galveston Island and the Stewart substation was re-energized.
