Colorado Springs Utilities Selects Cellnet to Provide AMI Solution

Cellnet Technology, Inc. has entered an agreement with Colorado Springs Utilities.

Under the multiyear agreement, Cellnet has been contracted to provide its fixed-network InfiNet AMI solution, turnkey delivery, and project management services for all electric, gas and water customers in the entire service territory of Springs Utilities.

Springs Utilities is a community-owned utility that provides natural gas, electricity, water, and wastewater services to customers in the Pikes Peak region of Colorado. It is one of the largest multiservice utilities in the United States.

Starting this fall, Cellnet and Springs Utilities will deploy more than 500,000 electric, water, and gas meter end points over a five-year period. Springs Utilities will own the communications infrastructure and metering points with Cellnet operating the system under a managed service model through project deployment with an option for Springs Utilities to ultimately assume full system management.

“This contract is another milestone in what is shaping up to be a record-breaking year for Cellnet on all fronts,” remarked Mike Zito, president and CEO of Cellnet. “Our project with Springs Utilities represents what we believe is the largest combined gas, water, and electric turnkey AMI project ever awarded, and we are honored to have Springs Utilities join our rapidly growing customer community.”
