AREVA Provides E-terra Market Solution to CASC-CWE
AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution Division will provide the newly formed CASC-CWE (Capacity Allocation Service Company for the Central West European Electricity market) with its e-terramarket ETSO product to operate the Transmission Capacity Explicit Auctions. The system provided by AREVA will enable traders to buy and sell transmission capacity between the five CWE region countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.)
The new company CASC-CWE is a joint service company which, on behalf of the transmission system operators involved, will act as a single point to implement and operate services related to the auctioning of power transmission capacity on the common borders between the five countries. This company will also ease cross-border power exchange and delivery for all market parties within the Central West European Electricity market especially through the standardization of systems and rules. Thanks to this initiative liquidity and competition within the five markets will increase.
This project is the first of its kind and has been executed in a record timing, only three months between contract signature and system delivery. AREVA’s T&D division was therefore able to provide a solution based on e-terramarket ETSO products, which effectively complies with the different rules of the seven Transmission System Operators (TSO’s) involved, and is fully compliant with ETSO defined business processes.
