AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Division has been selected by RTE, the French Transmission System Operator to deliver a Smarter Grid Management solution to monitor, estimate and forecast the power generated by the wind farms connected to the French grid. This collaboration between AREVA and RTE will optimize and increase the capability of the French grid to incorporate renewable energy sources and thus allow to reach faster the target set by the European Union directive for the decrease of CO2 emission.

Wind generation in France is planned to multiply over the next years, from 3 GW installed capacity today. AREVA’s system will be ready to connect up to 1000 wind farms and support the development of renewable energy generation. The solution is based on its proven e-terra product range which already operates wind farm supervision systems in the United States, Portugal, Spain and Denmark. These Smarter Grids Management Solutions are designed for the operators to match the new energy market challenges: reliability, efficiency, environment, active consumer engagement.
