Atemex and OSI to Deliver SCADA System for Guadalajara

Mexican partner, Automatización y Tecnología Mexicana SA de CV (Atemex) and Open Systems International, Inc. have been awarded a contract by División de Distribución Jalisco of Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) to be the supplier of its new, next-generation SCADA system in their facilities in Guadalajara.

División de Distribución Jalisco delivers energy services to the city of Guadalajara and a surrounding, thriving metropolitan area with a population in excess of 4 million people. Located in the West-Central part of Mexico in the state bearing the same name, División de Distribución Jalisco is an independent division of Comisión Federal de Electricidad, the second largest state-owned company in Mexico and largest electric utility company in the country. Deploying OSI technology, Jalisco intends to implement a modern system for operations to better serve the metropolitan area’s more than 1.2 million customers as well as improve the support, reliability and efficiency of its network.

To complete this project, OSI will provide support for Atemex to ensure a swift and successful implementation of División de Distribución Jalisco’s next-generation automation system. The proposed system for Guadalajara is based on OSI's monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) technology on the Linux platform and includes Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Web-based Graphical User Interface, Historical Information and Archiving System, Trending and Calculation subsystem, Open Database Connectivity, as well as DNP and ICCP communications.

CFE is a Mexican public corporation and government agency that was founded in 1937. CFE’s mission is to provide generation, transmission, distribution and commercialization of electric energy for 26.4 million customers of Mexico’s population of almost 80 million people, making it the largest electric utility in Mexico, and one the largest in North America. División de Distribución Jaliscois one of the largest of several CFE divisions throughout Mexico and provides electrical energy to over 2,400,000 customers.

Atemex is a Mexican automation company designs and manufactures RTUs, SCADA communication accessories and data concentrators for electrical utilities in the Mexican market. OSI and Atemex have worked together since September 2007 to bring OSI technology to control centers in México. Atemex is headquartered in Chihuahua, Mexico.
