Advanced Control Systems, Inc. (ACS) has been contracted by Carteret-Craven Electric Cooperative (CCEC) to deploy the ACS PRISM SCADA system.
Looking to replace its former system with advanced technology, CCEC chose the PRISM system to improve the security, quality and reliability of electrical service to its customers, while meeting the developing demands of the current energy environment. Carteret-Craven, one of 26 electric cooperatives in North Carolina, provides energy and related services to more than 38,000 members in Carteret, Craven, Jones and Onslow counties.
Eric Fassnidge, staff engineer at CCEC, commented, “Together with our recent RTU purchase from ACS, the selection of the PRISM SCADA system gives us a modern, open platform that will enable us to operate effectively in today’s world while providing the flexibility to adapt the system to our future needs.”
The new system, comprising dual redundant Linux servers and Linux-based operator terminals in an open architecture design, also includes remote GUI consoles, historical archiving, data trending and DNP communication with the upgraded substations.
