New York Electric Utility Places Additional Order with Nighthawk Systems

Nighthawk Systems, Inc. has received an additional order for its CEO700 wireless disconnect units from Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. Central Hudson is a regulated transmission and distribution utility serving approximately 300,000 electric and about 74,000 natural gas customers in eight counties of New York State’s Mid-Hudson River Valley, and delivering natural gas and electricity in a 2,600-square-mile service territory that extends north from the suburbs of metropolitan New York City to the Capital District at Albany.

Nighthawk produced customized firmware for Central Hudson in the fall of 2007, which led to successful field testing and an initial order of CEO700s in January 2008. Based on the benefits produced by the initial program, Central Hudson recently placed an additional order for units to expand the program in 2009. The CEO700 gives electric utilities the ability to wirelessly disconnect and reconnect power to residential electric meters from a centralized location, improving customer service response times and saving the utility significant time and money over the traditional manual disconnect method that requires multiple truck rolls and field personnel.
