Gainesville Teams With Axon and SAP for Phase 2 Transformation Initiative
Gainesville Regional Utilities, the fifth largest municipal utility in Florida, has selected Axon Solution to lead the collaboration of replacing its ERP Solutions with SAP's World Class Business Suite.
City officials selected Axon, opting to leverage Axon's extensive experience in municipal utilities. Axon will implement SAP's ERP Solution including Financials, Utility Asset Accounting, Purchasing, Inventory, Business Intelligence and Workflow across each of the five business units at GRU.
"Phase-two is part of a long term strategy to provide automation and flexibility throughout the business," said Jennifer Hunt, chief finance officer for GRU. "Phase 2 is truly about transforming GRU's financial information and providing all key stakeholder access to the right information."
The new solution will integrate with SAP's Customer Information and Billing Solution implemented last year in Phase 1. The result will be enhanced financial accounting between the utility and the city of Gainesville. Through a designated formula, GRU provides funding to the general fund of the city; this fund helps to support city services such as law enforcement, fire protection, and parks and recreation.
The project kicks off this month and is expected to be up and running in 12 months, with Axon providing six months of post go-live support.
Axon has implemented numerous municipal utilities with similar needs to GRU including the City of Tacoma, Dallas Water, City of San Diego and Lansing Board of Water and Light.
