NAVTEQ has been selected by Idaho Power Co., Boise, Idaho, to serve as the primary transportation layer for use in its desktop and mobile GIS applications. NAVTEQ map data was licensed through American Digital Cartography, Inc. (ADCi), Appleton, Wisconsin. NAVTEQ data can support the utility's GIS applications by providing background reference for outage management and the design of electrical facilities, routing service personnel, drive time determination, and other network analyses.

By using NAVTEQ data, Idaho Power expects to derive actionable information about its land-based assets throughout its service territory to make critical decisions about the efficient deployment and use of those assets. Idaho Power anticipates using this location intelligence, supplied from the NAVTEQ database, to help drive day-to-day operational efficiencies.

"Idaho Power requires an accurate, up-to-date street network with routing capabilities for its GIS land base," said Frank Mynar, GIS applications leader, Idaho Power Co.
