Software Enables Comprehensive Enterprise Mobile Voice, Data Communications

Varaha Systems has announced commercial availability of its uMobility software products with a comprehensive set of enterprise mobile capabilities. Developed to meet the needs of enterprises and small- to medium-sized businesses, uMobility is a cost-effective, scalable and robust solution that provides businesses the freedom to extend their office data and voice applications to their mobile workers via smartphone devices.

"Varaha Systems is enabling mobile workers to have the freedom to access a universal, rich set of mobile capabilities from smartphone devices, via any wireless carrier, regardless of the network type or the business communication system," said Prasad Govindarajan, chief technology officer of Varaha Systems. "The introduction of our uMobility product set provides mobile workers with the security, voice quality, and ease of use essential to do their jobs more effectively.

From an IT perspective, uMobility enables businesses to control and reduce their operational costs and realize a fast ROI within only a few months."

Varaha Systems developed its comprehensive set of uMobility products in direct response to the expanding needs of the mobile market. The smartphone segment is witnessing the fastest growth in the handset market with nearly 800 million SIP-enabled mobile handsets projected to ship in 2011, according to Disruptive Analysis.

In addition, Wi-Fi is rapidly becoming a standard feature in smartphones. The fastest growing segment in the market by far is the dual-mode cellular and Wi-Fi VoIP phone, with worldwide units shipping at a phenomenal rate. Infonetics forecasts a five-year compound annual growth rate of 198 percent between 2006 and 2010. In 2005, 58 percent of Wi-Fi phone revenue came from single-mode Wi-Fi VoIP handsets, while 42 percent was from dual-mode handsets. However by 2009, 91 percent of revenue is projected to come from dual-mode handsets. In a separate report, In-Stat cites that more than 37 percent of these business end-points will be wireless and within three years, Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) will surpass data on WLAN networks.

"We extended our field testing in North America, Europe and Asia for more than two years to ensure that our uMobility product set would not only meet but exceed the feature, performance and reliability requirements and customer expectations of the evolving business mobile communications market," said Nitin Kumar, director of product management at Varaha Systems. "Now that uMobility has been successfully deployed in mission critical situations, we believe that the products are mature enough for widespread deployment."

Early adopters are citing compelling efficiency gains and ease of use with the uMobility products. For example, uMobility Mobile Multimedia is now being deployed with emergency responders in a number of cities to ensure critical information is received by police and fire departments on the move. "Varaha secured our wireless networks while eliminating session drops, said Lieutenant Mark Bills, with the City of Grapevine Police Department in Texas. "Varaha worked with us to solve our problems."

"The convergence and adoption of Voice over IP, Wi-Fi and the availability of smartphones creates fertile ground for our uMobility products to allow mobile workers access to their desk services no matter where they happen to be," said Govindarajan.
