Manhole Cover Lifter

The Utility Manhole Cover Lifter enables one person to lift manhole covers in a variety of work environments and applications. The device features a long handle that allows the user to provide the proper leverage to raise the cover. Other features include rubber hand grips and a spiked foot for secure traction on unstable ground surfaces such as sand, ice or snow. The lifter's plated-steel tubular body is also designed to lift heavy manhole covers.

The product comes with several key options including a small J-hook, a large J-hook and a heavy L-hook. All the keys are made from heat-treated steel. In addition, General Machine Products can make custom key designs to fit unique applications.

Meter Cover Reconditioning

Midwest Reconditioning offers a reliable and environmentally friendly alternative to replacing utility meter covers. The company can remove hazing, opacity, dullness, pitting, scratches and virtually any degradation from weather and ultraviolet rays from almost any plastic, glass, Plexiglas, Lexan or polycarbonate product. The vendor also applies ultraviolet protection to stop yellowing. Rather than investing in new meter covers, utilities can return their meter covers to their original factory-like appearance for a fraction of the cost.

Instrument Transformers

GE Digital Energy's ITI Outdoor Medium Voltage (MV) Instrument Transformers now include voltage and current instrument transformers in the 15-kV, 25-kV and 34.5-kV classes. These new products, suitable for operating meters, instruments, relays and control devices, offer utilities improved weatherability and protection from ultraviolet radiation, dielectric properties, enhanced thermal cycle resistance, high tracking arc resistance and an extended service life. The transformers are encapsulated in hydrophobic cycloaliphatic epoxy and manufactured using automated pressure gelation technology, which increases reliability and quality and decreases manufacturing time.

Ventilated Safety Helmet

Gateway Safety's Serpent Ventilated Safety Helmet helps prevent overheating with the CoolSense Air Flow System. The six-vent air flow system lets heat escape, keeping workers cooler. A soft, cushioned brow pad helps absorb moisture and perspiration. The helmet weighs 13.1 oz and features a snake-head shell design. A six-point nylon suspension and high-density polyethylene material provide both comfort and impact absorption. The safety helmet is available with a pin-lock or ratchet suspension, which adjusts to fit 6 ⅝ to 8 ¼ head sizes. A rain trough helps divert water from the worker's face. The helmet complies with the ANSI 89.1 Standard for Type I, Class C helmets only. It should not be used by people who work around highly conductive equipment.

Track-Mounted Insulated Aerial

Scott Powerline & Utility Equipment has introduced a new Terex TM 125 Hi-Ranger insulated aerial mounted on a PowerTraxx 18-H hydrostatically driven track vehicle. The TM 125 Hi-Ranger non-overcenter material-handling aerial provides a working height of 125 ft, a bottom of platform of 120 ft and a side reach of 52 ft. Standard equipment includes a hydraulic platform leveling system, four-function single stick, hydraulic platform tilt at upper controls, variable volume hydraulic system, continuous unrestricted rotation and many other standard and optional features.

The PowerTraxx 18-H vehicle is one of the largest units in the industry. It features a payload capacity of more than 44,000 lbs and a specially designed cab with ROPS to 100,000 lbs. The 18-H is powered by a 350-hp engine and moves on 44-inch-wide D-dent tracks.
