CEM Selects Intergraph for GIS-OMS Project

CEM (Companhia de Electricidade de Macau, Macau, Southeast Asia) has purchased G/Electric, Intergraph Utilities' (Hong Kong) next-generation utility GIS as a core geospatial information management solution for AM/FM and outage management. CEM is the sole electricity provider on Macau, serving 180,000 customers in a 22-sq km (8.5-sq mile) area.

The Geospatial Information and Outage Management System (GIS-OMS) project will replace the company's existing mapping system and provide an outage management solution that enables Web-based generation and tracking of trouble-call tickets as well as graphic displays of outages within the company's distribution network. GIS-OMS will have the flexibility to later add mobile applications that use Intergraph's new thin-client technology. The project will support up to 30 users.

CEM's goal is to achieve an integrated Geospatial Resource Management environment in which pre-integrated solutions allow a seamless workflow among applications that provide and maintain its service-delivery network. G/Electric and its family of products are based on standard, nonproprietary programming tools and represent commercial off-the-shelf software.
