Colorado Springs Utilities Empowers Employees

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU, Colorado Springs, Colorado, U.S.) purchased from Brio Software (Brio, Santa Clara, California, U.S.) the Brio Performance Suite as its corporate standard for business intelligence to improve the performance of more than 1700 employees across six divisions.

As a community-owned organization, CSU provides gas, water, electric and wastewater services to the citizens of Colorado Springs. During a major reorganization early in 2001, executives looked for ways to improve business intelligence from the various service departments and IT systems. Their goal was to deliver performance metrics reports that improve understanding of and insight on both individual and organizational performance.

The software will provide individual decision makers with the ability to run ad-hoc queries and create their own reports at any given moment. The charting capabilities eventually will enable employees to log in daily to view their personal performance metrics and measure progress against the organization's overall business goals.
