LG&E Energy Signs Systems Integration and Consulting Contract with SchlumbergerSema
LG&E Energy (Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.) has signed an information technology (IT) systems integration and consulting agreement with SchlumbergerSema. Through its Kentucky Utilities (KU) and Louisville Gas and Electric (LG&E) subsidiaries, LG&E Energy serves more than 1.1 million electric and natural gas customers throughout Kentucky and Virginia.
The Geospatial Enterprise Management Integration Network Initiative (GEMINI) project will enable the utility to provide customers with improved service reliability and response to outages. GEMINI will help LG&E and KU achieve greater system reliability and service levels by eliminating work order backlogs, improving asset management, reducing information management costs, and enabling faster response to customer and regulatory requests through streamlined data access and management.
LG&E Energy retained SchlumbergerSema to engineer, build and deliver an integrated business solution and supporting technology to meet the combined energy delivery needs of its utility companies.
The solution being deployed is based upon the SchlumbergerSema Digital Utility offering, which is designed to create a seamless digital environment that spans the utility enterprise.
The new agreement is the second phase of a two-phase project to plan and deploy a digital energy enterprise to improve efficiency of the utility's energy delivery operations. The initial engineering phase of the contract encompassed the integrated business process modeling and consulting services needed to develop a cohesive business process transformation strategy. The building and managing phase of the contract includes deploying the supporting IT solution.
The resulting solution involves integrating a work management system, outage management system, geographic information system and graphical work design, along with data management tasks.
