TransGrid hosted an annual Safety Day in September to test employees' skills in first aid, fire fighting and risk assessment. More than 250 employees across 20 teams took part in the event at the Newcastle Regional Center, located in New South Wales, Australia.
This year's “Well Being” theme focused on the link between a safe workplace and a healthy, balanced workforce.
For the fire-fighting competition, Adam Kelly, an electrical fitter, won the individual fire hose reel event.
Jye Thornton, a substation support engineer from Newcastle, was the winner of the first aid competition. He is shown treating a mock casualty in the TransGrid first aid team event.
