Baker Equipment's High-Voltage Live-Line Voltage Alarm is a watch-sized device worn on the user's dominant arm. The device has an actuating distance of approximately 59 inches (150 cm). Relay

The SEL-387A relay from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is an economical and feature-rich current differential and overcurrent protection relay for two-winding transformers and other two-port electrical apparatus. Corona Camera

The CoroCAM 4+ from Specialized Camera is a bi-spectral (visible and solar-blind high-sensitivity ultraviolet) camera primarily used for electric-utility inspection (during bright sunlight) of high-voltage electrical materials, such as transmission line and substation insulators, substation buswork and switches, electrical switchgear buswork and support insulators and many other outdoor corona inspection applications. The CoroCAM 4+ can be used outdoors during all light level conditions that are present for these applications and could include periodic monitoring for change of high-voltage distribution substations to determine when insulator cleaning is required. Pole-Top Capacitor Switch

Joslyn Hi-Voltage's VerSaVac II LE capacitor switch has been improved to require 20% less operating voltage than previous models. This maintenance-free switch has a long-life solenoid operating mechanism that provides 100,000 operations (50,000 open/close) and operates as low as 80 Vac. No oil or gas is used for interruption or insulation, eliminating costly maintenance. The VerSaVac II LE can be used to replace existing oil switches or used with new capacitor banks. Animal Cover

The Energy Division of Tyco Electronics Inc. launched the Bushing Connection Animal Cover (BCAC). This new cover provides the same reliable outage protection as other Tyco Electronics' Raychem insulating covers. The BCAC design uses a patented scissor action that allows for live installations on bushing skirts. This translates the force on contact with the bushing core to a rotating action that closes the cover around the bushing. The cover incorporates a gripper attachment that allows installation from a pole or bucket.

Bypass Switches

Hubbell Power Systems introduces a new line of bypass switches. Primarily for bypassing and disconnecting reclosers, the switches permit periodic maintenance of the reclosers without interrupting service. For distribution reclosers, the 14.4-kV, 25-kV and 34.5-kV Type BP3 three-way switch is available with either a back-strap mounting or a pole-mounting bracket. For substation reclosers, the 15-kV and 27-kV Type BPF fused switches feature either 100 A or 200 A fuse holders as used in Chance Type C cutouts. Both types of switches are offered with options for right or left opening/fusing, terminal hardware and connectors.

Isolator

Positron has added the OP-T-Span (Opti-Line Isolator) fiber-optic protection product line to its family of protection products. Network Power Protection

MGE UPS Systems introduces its new Pulsar Evolution UPS family. The ADE7759 provides Invensys with a solid energy measurement technology that optimizes the iCon Meter's capabilities to include “smart” functions in demand by utilities, including integrated electric/gas/water meter reading and remote data collection. The iCon Meter boasts easy connectivity to facilitate automatic meter reading and access to networked utility data. Electri-Flex Co.'s Web site now features an online applications guide that allows site visitors to determine the appropriate electrical flexible conduit for their particular needs. Fleet Management System

Minorplant Systems USA's Vehicle Management Information (VMI) system helps electrical companies and contractors better manage their vehicles. With a VMI, a data collection unit (DCU) is placed in the vehicle and relays vital information to a base station (control and command center) at the owner's workplace. By using global positioning system (GPS), VMI can monitor a vehicle's speed (measuring fuel efficiency), stops and starts (unauthorized or excessive driver breaks), and adherence to a predetermined route (authorized use of the vehicle). Remote-Monitoring System

Narda Safety Test Solutions introduces the first system to provide continuous remote monitoring of electrical and magnetic field strength at a single site or multiple sites in almost any location. The new Narda Area Monitor System 2600 employs a small self-powered outdoor instrument station that measures ambient E- or H-field levels, and then stores and transmits measurement data to a remote PC. The station's alarm circuitry can trigger immediate wireless notification to a PC or multiple pagers if field measurements exceed preset conditions or if the system is not operating properly. The System 2600 remote monitor can be equipped with one of nine different isotropic probes and it provides PC software for downloading and analyzing data and for remote programming of the monitoring station's alarm levels, transmission intervals and other controls.

Remote Viewing Software

Eurotherm's new version of its Bridge 5000 remote-viewing software package, Full Bridge, enables remote workstations to access and control any of its 5000 Series data recorders over unlimited distances. This latest version provides a powerful user-friendly interface via direct connection, Ethernet link, local area network or the Internet. It enables full remote operation, historical data review and even remote configuration of instruments. Bridge 5000 also allows remote users to view live data. Information is presented in a variety of formats, and password protection ensures only authorized clients may connect to the instrumentation. The software uses Java-compatible technology and is capable of running a TCP/IP connection protocol on multiple platforms, and more than one recorder may be viewed from a single workstation by running multiple instances of the Bridge's software. The new release comes with several powerful options, including Batch Operation, which allows the remote user to perform all batch control and logging operations; User Screens, which allows remote creation, display and modification of custom screens; and File Explorer, which allows instrument files to be viewed and manipulated remotely.

Digital Multiplexer

RFL Electronics Inc. has expanded its family of digital multiplexer products by introducing the IMUX 4000, a new SONET/SDH solution specifically designed for use in varied environments.
