Siemens Puts Solar Farm in the South of France On-line

In mid-October, Siemens Energy put the Les Mées solar farm in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the south of France on-line. For this project, Siemens installed six turnkey photovoltaic power plants. Customer is the project developer Eco Delta Développement (EDD), whose subsidiary Delta Solar developed the photovoltaic farm in the district of Les Mées.

The solar power plants, for which Siemens will also handle maintenance, will generate a combined peak output of 31 MW. Approximately 12,000 French households can thus be supplied with clean electricity.

The Les Mées solar farm, which is located at an elevation of 800 m (244 ft) above sea level on the La Colle des Mées plateau, comprises a total of 112,000 solar modules covering an area of 70 hectares (173 acres).

Under the terms of turnkey installation of the six photovoltaic power plants Siemens was not only responsible for grid connection and the control systems but also for supply and installation of the inverters, low- and medium-voltage components, and transformers. Furthermore, Siemens was also responsible for the civil works and substructure, and will also perform maintenance on the solar power plants.
