Trentino Servizi Seeks to Develop Standard GIS Solution for Italian Public Utilities
Trentino Servizi (Trento, Italy) will be implementing Miner & Miner's (Fort Collins, Colorado, U.S.) ArcFM and ArcFM Viewer to support its utility operations with the help of SinerGIS, Miner & Miner's Italian business partner.
Trentino Servizi provides services to more than 70 diverse municipals covering a 2800-mile (4506-km) region in Northern Italy. Its mission is to provide a full range of utility services for electric, gas, water, wastewater and waste management to the citizens of the Trentino province. Trentino Servizi's migration to ArcFM from an ESRI ArcInfo workstation and Librarian format will provide it with fast and dependable information to support more efficient customer service.
As a result of increased competition in the industry, and the growing legal and technical regulations imposed by national authorities, Trentino Servizi opted to form a strategic partnership called the Multi-Utilities Users Group (MUUG) with other public utilities to develop a standard solution capable of meeting the current and future needs of the Italian utility markets.
Using the ArcFM Solution, MUUG will integrate core functionality with other informational systems into a streamlined company information system. The project began in June 2003, starting with a migration of the electric distribution network from an Intergraph/FRAMME environment.
