Storms Knock Out Power to 13.500 LADWP Customers
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) reports that storm-related power outages have knocked out power for approximately 13,500 customers throughout Los Angeles, California, U.S., from San Pedro to the San Fernando Valley.
Among the hardest hit areas are Boyle Heights, Echo Park, East Los Angeles, downtown Los Angeles, San Pedro, and Van Nuys. Other areas include Koreatown, Hollywood, Studio City, Encino, and Pacific Palisades. LADWP has dispatched 45 crews of electrical line mechanics and electrical service workers to make repairs since the storm began Monday night.
LADWP officials are working to restore power as soon as possible but cannot estimate the time for repair due to the high volume of outages. Officials blame the outages on wind, rain, trees, or lightning--all of which can knock down power lines, poles or other electrical equipment, causing circuits to fail.
