Osmose Utilities Services Reports Zero Lost Work-Day Injuries in 2005 Despite Hurricane Recovery

Osmose Utilities Services, Inc. has announced that its workforce suffered zero lost work-day injuries during the entire year of 2005. Company President Larry Larson congratulated his fellow workers and thanked them for embracing a "culture of safety that begins with personal accountability and that recognizes our customers share these same values."

"This accomplishment is a testament to the quality of people we're lucky enough to call employees and to their commitment to the belief that all accidents are avoidable," said Larson. He noted that the achievement was made despite some significant hurdles, including the fact that the company doubled the number of field crews during the year. These crews were trained and deployed and performed safely in a wide range of job settings, from urban data collection and stray voltage testing in New York City to post hurricane recovery work in the devastated Ninth Ward of New Orleans. During 2005 Osmose crews worked for more than 800 customers in all 50 states. In fact, the company hasn't experienced a lost work-day injury for more than 15 consecutive months.

"Working safely over an extended period of time is a process that includes conversations with prospective customers," said Larson. "The job planning process has to include safety as a key objective and a measurable, right from the beginning. The Osmose Safety Program made zero lost work-day injuries in 2005 possible, but it could never have happened without participation and encouragement from our customers," he said.
