2006 U.S. Power System Wall Map Released
Global Energy Decisions (Global Energy) has released its new 2006 U.S. Power System Map, one of the most detailed and up-to-date reference maps available to energy professionals.
"The 2006 U.S. Power System Wall Map includes major additions representing two years of additional research and development into the infrastructure of the U.S. electrical power system" said Jason McMahan, president of Global Energy Maps, the precision cartography unit of Global Energy. "With this release, we become the only provider showing true retail service providers' territories clearly indicating the brand name of the utility billing entity."
The 2006 U.S. Power System Map is full color, measures 48 inches by 92 inches, and features:
- All U.S. power plants 45 MW and above as of Jan. 1, 2006, 2,180 in total-defined by capacity, fuel mix, operator and regulatory status
- 450,000 miles of transmission lines indicated by voltage
- For the first time ever, true retail service providers territories
- Over 1,300 Utility Service Territories, including all IOUs and non-IOUs with over 100,000 MWh of sales in 2004
- Comprehensive plant data table listing power plants by name, operator, capacity and map location
- Eleven regional insets showing detailed energy infrastructure in enhanced detail
- Reference features include NERC regions overlaid on a detailed base map with states, counties, major cities and towns.
"Unique topography and detailed land relief enable viewers to better comprehend the complex geography of the U.S. energy industry," McMahan added.
