Wisconsin Commission Approves Transmission Project
Last week the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC) approved American Transmission Company’s (ATC) request to increase reliability for Forest and Oneida Counties’ electric service by building and upgrading transmission facilities between Monico and Crandon in northern Wisconsin.
In a verbal decision, the commission approved US$8.7 million for ATC to build approximately 12.9 miles of new transmission line from the Venus Substation in the town of Monico to a new substation on the south side of Crandon. The commission approved the route that generally follows Highway 8. The line will operate at 115 kV but will be built at 138-kV standards, both meeting current needs and allowing for future growth.
The commission will issue a written order to finalize that decision at a later date.
