Entergy Corporation is a 2013 Tree Line USA utility for the eighth year in a row, the Arbor Day Foundation has announced.

Tree Line USA is a national program recognizing public and private utilities for pursuing practices that protect and enhance America's urban trees. A partnership between the Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters, Tree Line USA promotes the dual goals of delivering safe and reliable electricity while maintaining healthy community forests.

"Trees are a critical part of urban landscapes all across the United States," said John Rosenow, founder and chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. "Service providers like Entergy Corp. show that taking care of urban trees is good for business, for customers and for the broader community."

Brent Davis, Entergy manager of transmission and distribution vegetation management, explained, "Shade from trees helps customers conserve energy, which also helps Entergy reduce demand on Entergy's resources and facilities. Our employees are constantly implementing vegetation management best practices, while educating customers on proper management of trees around power lines. This helps the company ensure the kind of reliable service our customers count on."

Entergy Corp. achieved the designation by meeting the five program standards for Tree Line USA. Utilities must follow industry standards for quality tree care, provide annual training for employees in best tree-care practices, sponsor a tree-planting and public education program, maintain a tree-based energy conservation program, and participate in an Arbor Day celebration.
