Kissimmee, Florida, Board Approves $2.5M Contract for Substation Construction
The Kissimmee, Florida, Utility Authority (KUA) board of directors on Wednesday approved a $2.5 million contract with Kissimmee-based Terry’s Electric, Inc. for the construction of a new electric substation in Osceola County.
The contract includes material, equipment and labor for construction of the 69,000/13,200-V Pleasant Hill Substation as well as associated modifications to the utility’s existing Power Plant and Clay Street substations.
The project will provide added reliability and meet growing demand for electricity along the Pleasant Hill Road corridor of Kissimmee. In recent years, this area has experienced load growth of nearly 28 percent.
The contract represents a portion of a $20 million investment being made by the utility to fund the overall project.
Construction on the substation is set to begin in February with completion slated for December.
