The Jindal Institute of Leadership Development and Executive Education (JILDEE) of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), a research intensive global institution in the NCR of Delhi, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID), one of the largest transmission utilities in the world.
The Memorandum of Understanding has been signed for a period of five years and will see both institutions exchange intellectual and infrastructure resources. The long-term collaboration will involve JILDEE designing and conducting custom management development programs for senior officers of POWERGRID. The scope of cooperation also includes areas like consultancy, summer internship, joint research and conferences, case writing and international assignments.
JILDEE will draw upon the intellectual resources at JGU to conduct these programs in the areas of leadership development, strategic management, innovation, creativity, competency mapping and other advanced management programs. The curriculum will employ various pedagogical approaches such as lectures, simulations, small group interactions, action learning projects and case studies.
Speaking on the occasion, JGU, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) C Raj Kumar said, "We are privileged to have partnered with the Power Grid Corporation of India, a Navratna, Central Public Sector undertaking and India's largest electric power transmission utility. It is indeed a proud moment for our institution."
Speaking on the leadership development, capacity building and knowledge creation initiatives led by JILDEE, Prof. Raj observed, "The executive education programs at JILDEE are carefully developed with a view to promoting leadership development at the highest levels of decision-making within corporations, government agencies, inter-governmental organizations, public sector organizations, NGOs, regulatory bodies and other institutions. The programs employ a multidisciplinary approach while preparing senior leaders to take critical strategic decisions in an ethical and socially responsible environment."

Speaking on the collaborative initiative with POWERGRID, Lt. Gen. Dr. Rajesh Kochhar (Retd), Senior Director of JILDEE noted, "In this world of constant change it is quite imperative that collaborative trainings are the need of the hour for rise of a new breed of leadership which will eventually take on this dynamic world. It's our goal to constantly evolve modules and train employees with the right skills and this collaboration is just the beginning of an academic journey."
As part of the collaborative agreement, POWERGRID will nominate senior and middle-level officers for both executive general management and short term certificate programs at JGU. Faculty members for the modules will include faculty members of JGU, leading industry experts, government officials and other leading academicians from both India and abroad.
Both entities will also undertake joint research and conferences in areas of mutual interest and benefit, these activities will be undertaken with an objective of sharing best practices/advancements as well as learning from other leading global organizations in the industry.
Power Grid Corporation of India owns and operates about 1, 31,728 ckt. kms of transmission lines at 800/765kV, 400kV, 220kV and 132kV EHVAC and +500kV HVDC levels and 213 substations. The grid has a transformation capacity of about 2, 66,163 MVA as on Aug. 31, 2016.
JILDEE offers programs to mid and senior level career officers in various disciplines including Financial Management, Law and Corporate Governance, Leadership and Professional Development, Project and Process Management, Economics, Marketing and Sales, Technology, Innovation, Strategy, Government and Public Policy, Taxation, Diplomacy, and International Affairs. The executive education programmes that JILDEE conducts are both open-enrollment as well as custom programs.
