Linemen Gear Up for 25th Annual Rodeo
The International Lineman's Rodeo has been A Platform for Linemen to show off their technical craft and skill since 1984, and this year 3500 attendees are registered to participate in the 25
The main event is the rodeo, which will be taking place on Saturday, Sept. 13 at The National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, Kansas, U.S. On Saturday, there will be about 100 utilities attending, and 200 teams and 230 apprentices competing. Linemen will come from near and far, with representatives from the United States, Canada, Brazil and Aruba.
Not to be outshined, the safety conference is also a big part of the four-day event. This year experts will endorse safety practices at the safety conference, which will be held on Sept. 11 and 12 at the Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, Kansas. The power industry is constantly creating new strategies and products for staying safe while working with power lines. Organizers of the safety conference are advocating safer work habits by providing attendees the cost-free opportunity to hear industry safety experts speak about important matters that are evolving in the industry.
The rodeo safety conference's main goals are to illustrate how to be as safe as possible on the job and for linemen to share their personal safety knowledge with other people in the field. The orators will be lecturing about subjects including suspension trauma, personal protection, bucket truck safety and flame-retardant clothing. The day-and-a-half conference is a newborn addition to the Lineman's Rodeo. Started only two years ago, the safety conference has been a popular addition to the rodeo event.
Following the safety conference is the expo, a half-day exhibit on Friday, Sept. 12. The expo enables exhibitors to promote their company's products and services. This year more than 75 exhibitors are excited to display their company's commodities. For more information on the upcoming events, visit www.linemansrodeokc.com.
