Hurricanes Show No Mercy
The 2004 hurricane season is shaping up to be the most traumatic in recent history. Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Ivan have already slammed into the coastal regions of Florida and Alabama, leaving billions of dollars in damages while spawning tornadoes and torrential rains. Crews from across the country are working overtime to bring back power to millions of customers. Utilities can't rest easy yet. As of press time, tropical storm Jeanne is hovering over the Dominican Republic and is expected to gain strength as it moves through open water. Florida is within the projected path of this storm according to the National Hurricane Center. Highlights below give an overview of the magnitude of damage these storms have inflicted.
