Duquesne Light To Upgrade Highland-Logan’s Ferry Transmission Line
As part of Duquesne Light’s ongoing proactive commitment to providing its customers a safe, secure and reliable source of electricity, the company soon will begin an upgrade of the Highland-Logan’s Ferry transmission line.
The existing 7.8 mile long 69 kV line, running from the company’s Highland Substation in Pittsburgh to its Logans Ferry Substation in Plum Borough, will be upgraded to 345 kV. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and should be completed by the first quarter of 2012.
"Improving the capacity of this transmission line is very important to the overall reliability of our system," said Timothy Kuruce, Duquesne Light’s vice president of operations. "Over the past few years, we have built higher capacity transmission circuits in an effort to tie together our major substations, allowing us to provide greater reliability for our customers, as well as provide room for expansion as the need for electrical service grows."
