ENMAX Set to Rebuild Existing CalgaryTransmission Line by Helicopter
ENMAX Power Corp. is set to begin rebuilding an existing transmission line in the west end of the Weaselhead Natural Park in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Following the recommendations of an independent biologist presented in a Biophysical Impact Assessment on the Weaselhead, ENMAX produced a construction plan designed to protect and preserve this sensitive natural area through the life of this project. Some of the recommendations ENMAX will follow include performing all work by helicopter, fencing off sensitive areas, and completing the work before winter thaw.
The construction was set to begin on Feb. 4, 2008, and will continue until mid-to-late March. Residents living near the area will hear the helicopter working, and those local residents who frequent the pathway systems in the Weaselhead can expect some temporary pathway closures. Some closures are expected to be only for a few minutes while the helicopter flies equipment in and out of the work area.
