Palestinians Join Regional Electricity Grid Project
Palestine has joined a regional grid project that previously included Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya and Turkey.
The announcement was made at the 13th meeting by energy ministers of the network member countries, which kicked off in Amman on Monday.
Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Khaldoun Qteishat said that Palestine's access to the electric grid will help guarantee the Palestinians safe power supply.
Palestinian Energy Authority General Director Omar Kettana, for his part, said the West Bank will be linked to Jordan's electric grid and the Gaza Strip will be linked to the Egyptian electric grid.
He also said that Palestinian authorities have met all technical and legal requirements to access the electrical network.
