Austria/Thailand: VA TECH T&D Installs 230-kV Transmission Line in Thailand
VA TECH Transmission & Distribution (Vienna) has won a major contract for transmission lines in Thailand. The Thailand state-owned power utility EGAT awarded VA TECH T&D with the dismantling of a 115-kV transmission line, and the supply and reconstruction of a two-circuit 230-kV transmission line on same line route.
With a total line length of 293 km (182 miles), the 14.2 million euro contract is part of the largest transmission line projects in Thailand and is regarded as a highlight within EGAT. The transmission line is to be constructed in the southern part of Thailand as an essential part of the development of the 500-kV network extension and interconnection to neighboring Malaysia.
The achievement of this contract underlines the capacity of VA TECH T&D's regional center of competence for transmission lines, located in Bangkok, Thailand.
