Interoperability – the capacity for devices from various manufacturers to work together – is vital to the realization of a network-based Smart Grid. And the key to interoperability is standards. This podcast session, hosted by ABB Inc. President and CEO Enrique Santacana, looks into the process initiated recently by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to identify and propagate key Smart Grid-related standards and open protocols – including DNP3 and IEC 61850 – within the power industry. This podcast will also touch on the latest standards developments within government and the industry.
