The Tennessee Valley Authority is asking the public for input about a transmission line project that would improve electric reliability in Marshall County by providing power to a new local substation.
TVA is proposing to build about 5 mi of 161-kV transmission line. The line would extend south from TVA’s existing Belfast-Elk Ridge transmission line to Duck River Electric Membership Corporation’s proposed Cornersville 161-kV substation, to be located across Ostella Road from the existing Cornersville 46-kV substation.
TVA is considering several alternate routes. The line would be built on steel pole structures centered on a 100-ft right of way.
Public input is encouraged, beginning with an open house on Nov. 15, in Cornersville, Tenn. Detailed maps showing the different locations for the proposed power line will be available. TVA staff will be available to answer questions, discuss concerns and receive comments.
