Australian Community Benefits from Power Upgrade

Kings Meadows, Tasmania, Australia, residents will experience a greater level of power supply reliability from late May, with Aurora Energy commencing work to upgrade the system. Project Manager Peter Findlater said the $400,000 project would increase electricity load capacity in the area, making supply more reliable.

“The project includes the installation of new underground cabling including fiber optic cables,” he said.“It is a significant project and Aurora personnel will be on site during the next seven weeks working hard to strengthen existing infrastructure capabilities.”

Findlater said residents had been notified of the upgrade via mail and that the work was unlikely to cause power disruptions. “Crews will be utilizing live-line techniques to minimize any impact on customers in the area,” he said. “Due to the scale of works a number of trucks will be on site, and Aurora will have traffic management processes in place to assist residents during this time.”

Findlater said the project was among a number of power upgrades being carried out in the greater Launceston area, with Longford, Ringarooma and Perth having recently been completed.
