Power Upgrade for Gold Coast Island

ENERGEX will be investing $250,000 upgrading the power network on Cronin Island Queensland, Australia. Dozens of local power users will benefit from the work that will include installing 250 m of underground cable and a new pad mounted transformer. The majority of power cables will be installed on the western side of Southern Cross Drive with the new transformer being placed at the northern end of the park. The primary drivers for the required upgrades include a substantial jump in power usage in the local area.

ENERGEX statistics show that the average South East Queensland home now uses between 50 and 70 per cent more electricity than they did just 10 years ago. Due to the isolated nature of the Cronin Island power network some electricity interruptions will occur during the upgrades but residents will be advised before these occur. Some heavy vehicle movement and brief lane closures will occur however ENERGEX aims to keep any disruptions to a minimum.

The company plans to complete the necessary upgrades in the last week of May.
