Ergon Energy Plans a Major Power Upgrade for Townsville, Queensland Area
Cape Cleveland and Cungulla communities south of Townsville will receive a major power upgrade to improve reliability of electricity supply and meet future demand for power.General Manager Service Delivery Northern Paul Ryan said the $1M project will involve replacing approximately 3 km of high voltage powerlines that supply Ergon Energy’s Cape Ferguson Substation and then feed power to the Cape Cleveland and Cungulla communities.
“Our plan is to have this project completed by early October before the onset of the coming storm and cyclone season,” he said. Temporary generators will be installed at Cape Ferguson Substation and Crocodile Creek Road to ensure customers have power while the upgrade is underway.
