Construction Resumes on the Topock-Davis-Lake Mead Transmission Line
Construction of the Western Area Power Administration (Western) 80-mile Topock-Davis-Lake Mead line that parallels the Colorado River along Arizona’s western border with California and extends to Boulder Dam was postponed because of a shortage of funding and other construction priorities, according to Ross Clark, Electrical Engineering Manager. Construction, utilizing 3M Company’s ACCR conductor, resumed this month and should be completed by Spring 2007. Aha Macav Power Services, a utility owned and operated by the Fort Mojave Tribe in the Southwest, is building a line, also utilizing ACCR conductor, to connect to the Topock-Davis-Lake Mead line to bring needed additional electric power to the Needles, CA area.
