Tasman Peninsula residents will benefit from a more reliable power supply following a $1.5 million upgrade of electricity infrastructure in the area beginning next month. Aurora Network Acting General Manager Rod Wright said the project would upgrade power to the entire Peninsula, including Eaglehawk Neck, Port Arthur, White Beach, Nubeena and Taranna and would be part of a $2.5 million program of work to be undertaken by Aurora on the Tasman and Forestier Peninsulas over the next 18 months.

“This is a significant project for Aurora and work will be conducted over several months beginning in March,"  he said. “We will be replacing poles, installing new underground cables, conductors and protection equipment and clearing vegetation. “Due to the scale of the project there will inevitably be some traffic disruptions in the area between Dunalley and Eaglehawk Neck due to the large number of trucks and crews on the job, however traffic control measures will be in place during the upgrade. Wright said Aurora crews would minimize power interruptions by working on live lines where possible, although occasional power interruptions may occur. All customers affected by planned interruptions will receive an outage notification in their mail at least four days in advance of any work taking place.
