TenneT Completes Work on Second Coen Tunnel
In conjunction with the construction of the Second Coen Tunnel near Amsterdam, electricity transmission operator TenneT has relocated a number of underground high-voltage cables. This involved moving an existing underground 150-kV connection so that work on the tunnel could continue unobstructed.
The existing 150-kV high-voltage connection forms part of the high-voltage grid in the Noord-Holland province. TenneT complied with the request to relocate the connection by the Department of Public Works and Water Management and commissioned the work to service provider Liandon. The cable was successfully put into operation in mid-
December.
The Coen Tunnel is a vehicular artery under the North Sea Canal. In order to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow in the future, a second tunnel is being constructed alongside the first. The tunnel will be situated east of the current Coen Tunnel and will combine the A8 motorway with the A10.
