AREVA and CSR Times Electric Sign Strategic Partnership in China
AREVA has signed a strategic partnership with Zhuzhou CSR Times Electric Co. Ltd. (Times Electric). Under the agreement, AREVA’s Transmission and Distribution Division (T&D) will bring its expertise in the HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) & FACTS (Flexible Alternating Current Transmission Systems) areas, while Times Electric will provide its thyristor technology. Both parties will collaborate for identified projects and pre-selected businesses in China and external markets. They also plan to cooperate in research and development for power semiconductor devices for High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) & FACTS markets.
Lu Penghu, Executive Director and President of Times Electric said, “AREVA T&D is a world leader in power transmission and distribution business, in particular having leading edge technologies in HVDC and FACTS solutions. Our cooperation with AREVA in China together with the collaboration through our subsidiary Dynex Semiconductors Co. Ltd. overseas will accelerate Times Electric’s business development in the China and international markets.”
Philippe Guillemot, AREVA T&D’s Chairman and CEO said, “We are pleased to enter into cooperation with Times Electric, a major supplier of power semiconductors in China. In addition to localizing our operations, manufacturing and R&D, strategic partnership with strong players in the industry is also critical for AREVA to support China’s UHV and HVDC power grid infrastructure building.”
