Empire District Electric Company Begins Transmission Line Inspections
Beginning mid September, Empire District Electric Company will complete its annual inspection of transmission lines. The completion date for this program is dependent upon weather and wind conditions. Aerial Patrol will survey approximately 1,280 mi of transmission line throughout the Empire service territory with a low-flying helicopter. The inspection focuses on identifying potential problems with transmission structures, hardware, and conductors with special attention given to vegetation issues.
Empire inspects transmission lines annually to identify and correct potential problems with the transmission system. This allows the Company to continue safe and reliable delivery of energy to our customers.
Based in Joplin, Missouri, The Empire District Electric Company is an investor owned, regulated utility providing electricity, natural gas (through its wholly owned subsidiary The Empire District Gas Company), and water service, with approximately 211,000 customers in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.
