POWER Engineers Provides GIS System and GIS Data Services for Oncor
POWER Engineers Inc. has won a contract from Oncor to perform GIS data management services for Oncor's Competitive Renewable Energy Zone projects (CREZ).
Oncor's CREZ projects involve the expansion of infrastructure into CREZ zones, geographic areas throughout the state of Texas suitable for generating renewable energy. POWER's GIS consultants will deploy POWER's Project Manager (PPM), a centralized data management and reporting portal, to provide right-of-way (ROW) data management services and support Oncor's project team. Critical information for all 17 of Oncor's CREZ projects will be accessible through the single Web-based portal.
In addition to online reporting capabilities, PPM provides Oncor with document management, map services and the Web-based ROW Access Manager application. The system has been developed with the ability to track, in real-time, ROW acquisition, environmental permitting and construction progress and to generate progress reports. Another feature of PPM is making pictures/photos of the property available for viewing.
Kevin Mereness, POWER's Project Technical Coordinator at Oncor, commented, “We are very pleased to support Oncor's CREZ projects with POWER's Project Manager system. Our centralized data management system is having a significant impact and is giving Oncor an excellent view of the daily CREZ project activities. The immense quantity of data that is being generated on each CREZ project is being managed in one common database at POWER's facilities and is widely accessible via web-based maps, graphs, and online reports. Our web-based ROW Access Management system is allowing ROW Agents to enter information on a daily basis from any location; then the information is immediately visible to all team members via the centralized web portal.”
