Blue Ridge Mountain EMC to Deploy New Distribution SCADA
Blue Ridge Mountain EMC has contracted for a new and modern Distribution SCADA Master System based on OSI’s monarch (Multi-platform Open Network ARCHitecture) platform.
Headquartered in Young Harris, Georgia, BRMEMC is a non-profit, member-owned rural electric cooperative, distributing power from the Tennessee Valley Authority across a 1150 square-mile service territory that includes three counties in northern Georgia and two counties in western North Carolina. BRMEMC owns and maintains over 5800 miles of electric distribution lines and more than 32 miles of transmission lines.
Seeking to enhance and modernize its infrastructure, BRMEMC has elected to replace a legacy Telegyr system with a state-of-the-art new Distribution SCADA system based on OSI’s monarch platform. BRMEMC’s new system includes OSI’s next-generation, .NET based Graphical User Interface (GUI); SCADA platform; Advanced Alarm Management System; Real-time and Historical Trending; Communications Front-end Processor; Historical Information System and Data Archiving; and Calculation & Scripting Subsystem software products, along with the MultiSpeak interoperable interface between monarch and other corporate applications. This system was delivered in record time and has been commissioned.
BRMEMC was initially created in 1937 to provide dependable electric service at a reasonable price within the five counties of its western North Carolina and northern Georgia service area.
